Just popping in to say hello and share something fun and exciting today - I've been asked to contribute to Handpicked Nation, a site that's right up my alley with lots of great posts and information about all of the things I love - food, farming, and generally living well and responsibly on this gorgeous earth. My first guest post is up today, and it's about one of my all-time favourite things - glass jars! (I could have written for days!) Pop on over and have a look around - I'll bet you'll find something that you like, too.

Happy Monday!

  3. I need you to come organize my cupboards! ;)

My favorite thing right now are Weck Jars, speaking of glass jars. I'm keeping natural yeast starts in them and they make me smile every time I pull a jar out the fridge.

  4. Hi Sherrie,

I couldn't leave this comment over at Handpicked nation since I don't have hotmail, AOL or facebook...

I have successfully stored liquid in glass jars in the freezer. There was a learning curve but it does work. You are right that wide mouth jars are the best. Leave about a 1/2-1 inch of space for liquid expansion AND leave the lid off until it is frozen to allow the air to escape while the liquid is expanding. I have done this for over 2 years now and store my broths, soups and other saucy leftovers with great success. Wide mouth salsa jars (you know the tostitos jars) are the best for individual portions of soup for lunches!

I will definitely be getting some serious organization done in my "down" month while I wait for my oral exam! :)

As always I love your photos! :)
