gaspereau valley fibres

Good morning! I forgot to do a show-and-tell from my visit with Ingrid to the Valley last week. Firstly, though, there are still snowdrops in our yard. A few crocuses are up too, but they weren't quite so spectacular and lovely.
I'm not really a knitter (still working away on that cowl, though) but Ingrid is. So we went to Gaspereau Valley Fibres near Wolfville, and I loved it!

A knitting group was just arriving as we did, which made it even more fun.
I almost tucked these ladies in my bag. Almost.

Also in the Valley, Foxhill Cheese House is an amazing place. I stocked up on the most beautiful, smooth, creamy, and delightful gelato I have ever tasted (I recommend Coconut!), bought some of their pasteurized-but-not-homogenized milk in these beautiful glass bottles, got some quark, cheese curds, jalapeno gouda, and cheddar. Yum, yum, YUM. Their products are available in some different places around Nova Scotia; definitely worth seeking out.

I'm going to be away for a couple of days for work, so have fun without me!

  1. Gaspereau Fibres is on my list to visit and of course buy some yarn. I've never been but everyone I know that's been say it's beautiful. I bought some Foxhill smoked gouda on Sunday at the new Digby Local Market. Have fun away for a few days.

  2. I always want to go to Foxhill Cheese House but get voted out by DH, lol! Next time ;). I can't wait to try their milk. I always have to bring cooler bags to the valley because there are so many great places to buy goodies there. We love Meadowbrook Meat Market in Berwick. I always stock up when we go (and they sell a lot of Nova Scotia products there :) ). It's close to Boates (apple cider vinegar) and the place we buy honey by the gallon (Foote Family Farm).

  5. You should have stopped over to see our critters.
I love both places,My original Cotswold came from Gaspereau Valley Fibres.
There is no better milk outside of your own cow then fox Hill,it is the closest to homestead milk you can get.

  6. You are so right, farmer - it is delicious. And I'm not usually one to drink milk as is! It was an unplanned little trip up, but you're definitely on my list of people to meet on a proper visit, hopefully soon! :)
