baby G's room in progress

Yay! Adam has been working away at Baby G's room (I can't decide whether or not to capitalize 'baby') and he put on the first coat of paint today! The colour is called 'Potpourri Green' and it's a Benjamin Moore colour. He painted the ceiling yesterday, a lovely white called 'Alpine White' (I would like to meet the people who get paid to name paint colours), and the trim and baseboards are going to the the same colour as the ceiling (they're just primed white in the pictures). Very exciting progress - it looks like it will definitely be done by the 14th, which is when my mom and a couple of friends are having a baby shower for us at our house. I was hoping Adam could get it done by then so people could have a look-see. The floor will be the last thing to be painted, and it's being done with an oil paint, so that will take awhile to dry between coats and cure enough to put furniture on. I'll definitely post pictures after it's all done and decorated, too.

30 weeks on the 30th

As of March 30, I'm 30 weeks pregnant! I was just looking at a belly pic from 17 weeks, and I can't believe how much bigger I am. I know this is how it works, but it's still really neat to see. (And I'm kind of excited to be able to bend and have a waist again!) It was also my birthday on Friday, and Adam and I went to White Point Beach Resort for a night to celebrate, where the top picture was taken this morning out on the deck to our nifty little cabin (brrr!) My face looks kind of lumpy, I think it's because I was shivering. I haven't been putting weight on anywhere other than the aforementioned belly, which is nice. For a really special treat, we ordered a fruit plate and croissants as room service this morning! How luxurious.
We went for a lovely walk on the beach at White Point this morning before we checked out, and Adam took the above picture. It doesn't do the morning justice - it was sunny and the water was calm - the perfect way to start a day. And a month! Happy April!

blueberry muffins

I whipped up a batch of these delicious blueberry muffins this evening at Adam's request. They turned out SO yummy-delicious and were so easy and quick to make, that I thought I would share the recipe, from allrecipes.com:

Pat's Blueberry Muffins

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, thawed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add blueberries. In another bowl, beat egg and milk; stir in butter. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done.

These oh-so-very-yellow crocuses snuck right up on me - I hadn't noticed them until today. I really like how the fresh juicy-looking mango-coloured petals contrast with the dry, brown, winter-leftover leaves. Exactly what Spring is all about! In the meantime, there is a snowstorm in northern NS. So I'm extremely grateful for the sun, despite the fierce wind which is bringing all kinds of garbage into our yard. Blech.

I've been mentioning Adam's photography a lot lately because of Photosho - today he's in the Utata Spotlight! Can you tell I'm kind of his biggest fan? Worth taking a peek.
